Donald has interests in the ethics of health care and in environmental ethics.
With Ethox he has developed, and teaches, a range of postgraduate courses. They include ethics at the Diploma and Master's levels of the MSc. in Evidence-Based Health Care at the University of Oxford's Continuing Professional Development centre in the Department of Continuing Education. He is course tutor of the elective module in the Ethics of Health Care at the Master's level. (This unit is offered also as a free-standing course for health-care professionals who are not following the whole MSc. course.) He teaches ethics on the Medical School's Graduate Entry Scheme and short courses for public health specialists. He contributes to the Ethox Clinical Ethics Workshops in Oxford and elsewhere, and is a member of the Oxford Tropical Research Ethics Committee.
He is director of the postgraduate diploma course in the Ethics and Philosophy of Health Care of the Society of Apothecaries in London. At King's College London he teaches a module on environmental ethics within the MA course on Human Values and Contemporary Global Ethics. He contributes to the Medical Schools intercalated B.Sc in Medical Law and Ethics.
With Brenda Almond he edited Applied Philosophy, Routledge, 1991 and has published articles on medical and environmental ethics.
Current research interests include appropriate frameworks for medical and health-care ethics.
